Collapsible sidebars¶
The editor has collapsible sidebars so you can hand the full width to your text — especially useful on a phone, a tablet, or a narrow window.
- Left sidebar — the chapter list (prose books) or the page thumbnails (picture-books and comics).
- Right sidebar — the properties pane (picture-book and comic editors), shown next to the canvas.
Toggling a sidebar¶
Each sidebar has a collapse button at its edge (a chevron, labelled "Collapse sidebar" / "Seitenleiste einklappen"). Click it to slide the sidebar shut; click again to bring it back. The chapter / page list and the canvas expand to fill the freed space.
Your choice is remembered per browser, per device (it is stored locally), so the editor reopens the way you left it.
On small screens¶
The sidebars are viewport-aware:
- At or above 1200px wide (a desktop window), the sidebars start expanded.
- Below 1200px (phones, tablets, narrow windows), they start collapsed — so the first thing you see on a phone is the writing area, not the chapter list. Tap a collapse button to open a sidebar when you need it.
- Below 768px, the two sidebars are mutually exclusive: opening one automatically closes the other, so a sidebar never covers the canvas on a small screen.
If you open the editor on your phone and "the chapters are gone", they are not gone — the left sidebar is just collapsed. Tap its toggle to open it.
