Editing the title

Edit the title directly in the editor

You change the title of a book or article directly in the header of the respective editor. A pencil icon sits next to the displayed title; clicking it turns the title into an input field.

  • Enter or clicking outside the field saves the change.
  • Escape discards the change and restores the previous title.
  • An empty or unchanged title is not saved - the field simply returns to display mode.

Title editing is available on all four editor surfaces: articles (in the editor header), prose books (in the chapter sidebar), picture books and comic books (each in the editor header). For prose books the title field in the metadata tab remains as a secondary editing path.

Warning for already-published works

When a work has the status Published or Archived, clicking the pencil first shows a yellow warning - before editing begins:

Warning: This work has been published. A title change must be updated manually on the publishing platform (e.g. KDP).

Only after you click Understood, edit title does the field switch to edit mode. Drafts (status Draft or Ready) show no warning; the title can be edited immediately.

The reason: Bibliogon cannot automatically propagate a changed title to external platforms such as Amazon KDP. The warning reminds you to carry the change over there by hand so that book data and the published listing do not drift apart.
